Interactive Section and Overall Progress

The Interactive Menu had to be composed correctly in order to be navigated easily. This meant that planning was crucial. Several concepts and layout plans were produced before development of the menu took place. Concepts for the imagery and overall look were produced. This was a very important step to producing the final outcome. This was done by Jaz:

After, the concepts and plans were then adapted to create an overall continuous style through the whole piece, by myself. I then applied Action Script and animation to the imagery to create the final menu in flash, it was then exported as a flash file for use in a website.

The Final Interactive Experience

I am very happy with how this has developed and the final outcome, along with the introductory animation represents the book very well. I feel that we have completed the needs of the brief successfully and hope the client agrees.

Issue's With Flash Security

Sadly the 'Experience' doesn't preview properly on university computers due to issues with security settings. The links within the experience are blocked due to flash security settings and these cannot be changed by non administrator users. This problem only occurs due to us previewing from university computers, if the piece was live on the internet, the security issue wouldn't appear.

Animation Improvements

After a visit from our client, a few issues within the animation were spotted. This included rather simple mistakes such as spelling and grammatical issues. They were soon rectified. Two improvements, from our lecturer, were also suggested. One suggestion was that I should add a vignette to the piece to add visual depth, this was soon applied:

I think this has definitely improve the look of the piece and help create the cutout, handmade look.

Another suggestion was that the font from the 3D 'Rabbit Hole' section also should be changed to suit the fonts in the 2D section. I have given David the fonts and he should be changing it accordingly.
